How Beach Kaleidoscopes Are Made

Every Beach Kaleidoscope is handcrafted by artist Christina Eadie of Christina Home Designs. No two pieces are exactly alike. Each one captures the beauty of the coast through glass, sand, shells, sea glass, and carefully selected beach treasures.

What begins as individual pieces of beveled glass becomes a one-of-a-kind work of art designed to bring a little piece of the beach into your home.

Step 1: Cutting and Preparing the Glass

Each Beach Kaleidoscope begins with beveled glass pieces selected for their clarity and sparkle. The glass is carefully cleaned and prepared for assembly.

Step 2: Wrapping with Copper Foil

Every edge of the glass is wrapped by hand with copper foil. This traditional stained-glass technique creates the framework that will later hold the piece together.

Step 3: Hand Soldering

Using a soldering iron, each seam is hand soldered to create the finished shape. Whether it is a cube, pyramid, tent, or larger statement piece, every Beach Kaleidoscope is individually assembled by hand.

Step 4: Filling with Coastal Treasures

This is where the magic happens.

Each Beach Kaleidoscope is carefully filled with a unique combination of:

• Beach sand
• Sea glass
• Seashells
• Starfish
• Coastal treasures collected and curated by the artist

No two combinations are ever exactly the same, making every piece truly one of a kind.

Step 5: Final Assembly and Finishing

Once filled, the final piece, known as the lid, is soldered into place. Each piece is then cleaned, polished, and inspected to ensure it meets Christina’s standards.

Step 6: Signed by the Artist

Every Beach Kaleidoscope is signed by Christina Eadie before it leaves the studio.
